The Holy Spirit Menís Club is comprised of faith based men, who over the last 30 years have made a very large impact on the parish. The Menís Club derives its income from various fundraisers throughout the year. The major fundraiser is the Summer Picnic Raffle, which supplies the organization with most of the operating monies needed for the fiscal year. Other sources of income are the Fr. Leo Golf Outing, and various donations from smaller events and donors.
There are countless benefactors of the Menís Clubís good works. Monetarily, an average of 10-$1000 scholarships are awarded to deserving candidates every year. 2012 marked a milestone in that as of the June Graduation Ceremony the Menís Club has donated $250,000 in scholarships!
A few of the many other works that the Menís Club helps with in one way or the other is Christmas in May home maintenance projects, Right-to-Life & Pregnancy Help Center support, financial support of those on the path to faith based vocations, Church & Rectory maintenance, Religious Ed & Teen Group donations, including Steubenville trips, Usherís expenses, and the list goes on and on.
Many events are hosted and sponsored by the Menís Club as well. Already mentioned is the Summer Picnic which always draws very large crowds, and is free to all attendees. The Fr. Leo Golf Outing was also mentioned, and is looked forward to by many as an annual Fatherís Day Weekend event as is the Father/Son Super Bowl Party & Wild Game Dinner which usually takes place in early February. The Motherís Day Pancake Breakfast is also an annual event which is oddly held the week after Motherís Day every year. New this year is the Menís Club Sponsored Au Sable canoe trip that, based on reviews, is sure to become an annual event as well.
The Menís Club meets the 1st Tuesday of every month for a meeting at 8:00 PM at Holy Spirit Church. The meetings are casual and usually last an hour, covering all issues relative to current business. Dinner is served after the meeting, and refreshments are also available. The majority of the men who attend the meeting stay after for an hour or two, socializing, watching whatever local game is on TV, and playing cards or Dominoes.
To become a member simply show up to the meeting with your lifetime dues of $5.
