Extraordinary Ministers also bring Holy Communion to those who are sick and homebound or are in recovery care facilities. In this way those who are unable to participate in Sunday Mass with the entire assembly can still share in the communion of sacrament and friendship.
Ideally, the extraordinary minister attends mass and then brings Holy Communion immediately from the bread and wine consecrated at Mass to the sick. This makes the connection between Mass and Holy Communion more deliberate. The extraordinary minister is personally the one who connects the sick person to Sunday worship.
Prayerfully consider serving as an extraordinary minister. Call the main office for more information.
